Strange Storage behaviour

Dear ASC users, We are currently migrating all files in DATA to our new storage system. To ensure data safety and to avoid interruptions, all data is first mirrored, then the old version removed. This had the unexpected effect of suddenly and significantly increasing the amount of storage used by each project (up to double the amount). To mitigate this, we increased all quota to prevent any overruns and subsequent interruptions to the project work. To see your current quota, please log in and type: mmlsquota --block-size auto -j data_fs7XXXX data where 7XXXX is your 5 digit project number. The correct quota is not visible on the service webpage. Please excuse the caused confusion, the migration will most likely run for another 2-3 days, after which the quota state should return to normal. Dear VSC users. Currently, the entire DATA storage volume is filled up to 99% - there is only a rather tiny amount of space left, so we have to expect jobs to begin failing now. Please check your data and remove everything that is no longer actively used or that is of temporary/intermediate nature. Data that you actively work on can of course stay. Cluster shutdown and storage repair on 14/15.01.2025

Dear VSC-Users As many of you have experienced, we currently have problems with our storage which affects all nodes on both VSC-4 and VSC-5. We therefore need to take the storage array offline to enact repairs on the controllers - this means we have to shut down VSC-4 and VSC-5, including the login nodes and GUI nodes as well as jupyterhub (none of those work without the storage mounted). This will happen on Tuesday, the 14th of January and Wednesday, the 15th of January. Running jobs will be terminated on Tuesday morning and login will not be possible during that time. We will also use this shutdown to extend the cooling of VSC-5, which will then get some additional compute nodes. We aim to resume operations by Thursday, the 16th of January in the morning.
